Spot Information

Berrow

Tips and Information for kitesurfing at Berrow.

Wind direction:

NW, SW, W, S

Berrow works best when the wind is travelling in a Westerly direction. The Bristol Channel can create a venturi effect on the wind resulting in higher wind speeds than other parts of the UK coastline. The direction of the tide can have an impact on the wind speed, the wind will often 'feel' stronger on an outward tide than it will on an inward tide.

This spot works slighlty better than weston when more sourtherly winds

Tide:

~2h either side of HT

The Severn Channel has one of the largest tidal ranges in the world. This means there is no water at low tide and the area between the beach and channel is covered by sinking mud. Water-based kite sports are only possible around high tide (2hrs either side of the maximum height during spring tides, and up to 3hrs either side during neap tides).

James built this site to help understanding the tide window
